A B O U T   H E P  C     Letter From Julia

The impetus for starting the Foundation was my own diagnosis. After finding out I was hepatitis C positive, I searched the Internet for information about the disease and was appalled at what I found. There was so much misinformation in the mix with the accurate information that it was a full-time job trying to sort through everything.

Some of what I read was a comfort and some of it scared me to death. My hope is that I can point you in the right direction for information to save you some time and torment. I’m not claiming to be an expert, that’s why I have a Medical Advisory Council comprised of two of the best hepatologists in the country.

Unfortunately there are still a lot of doctors that are a bit behind the learning curve and that is why you need to be your own advocate or ask someone you trust to be that for you. hepatitis C has been called “The Epidemic of Discovery” for good reason. So much has been uncovered about HCV since it was identified in 1989 and much will discovered in the years to come.

It is my hope that you will make an educated, knowledgeable decision about your care.

A quote from Dr. Bacon, `No one will take better care of yourself than you.’
